Blow Off Valves
Blow Off Valves (BOV) also known as Bypass Valves and
Diverter Valves, are designed to prevent compressor surge by
releasing excess pressure in turbo charged vehicles when the
throttle is lifted. BOVs can be recirculatory, i.e. route
the excess air back into the intake, or can dump the
excess pressure to the atmosphere (the sometimes familar
whoosh sound of turbo charged vehicles).
